SIZING & FIT GUIDE

Choosing the correct belt size is essential for comfort, balance, and performance.

A properly fitted TRU Gear belt distributes the weight of your tools across your hips and keeps your pouches positioned where you need them throughout the workday.

Below you'll find guides on how to measure your belt size and achieve the proper TRU Gear fit.

METHOD A

MEASURE YOUR
BODY

Don't have a belt to reference? Measure your body directly at the height where your tool belt will sit - usually at the top of your hip bones.

  1. Measure around your hips
Wrap the tape around your body at tool belt height, slightly below your waist.

  2. Keep the tape level and snug
Straight and snug - not tight. This gives you your working measurement.

  3. Match to the size chart below
Use this number to find your TruGear belt size in the chart.

Measure your hips at belt height - not your waist, not your pants size

METHOD B

MEASURE YOUR
BELT

Already wearing a belt that fits well?
Measure it directly. This is often the most reliable method - you already know that belt works for you.

  1. Lay your belt flat
Place it on a flat surface - a table or workbench works well.

  2. Measure the padded section only
Measure the length of the padded belt section - not the full strap with the tail.

  3. Match to the size chart
Compare your measurement to the chart below to find your TruGear size.

Belt size chart

Size Inches CM
XS25"65 cm
S29"75 cm
M33"85 cm
L37"95 cm
XL41"105 cm

Sizes refer to the padded belt section. If you regularly work with heavy winter clothing, consider choosing the larger size.

NOTES ON FIT

THE RIGHT
FIT

We recommend having a 4–6" (10–15cm) gap in the front between both ends of belt padding. This gap matters for two reasons.

  • Comfortable all day
A properly fitted belt won't dig into your hips when bending, while still keeping good load bearing on your hips.

  • Pouch adjustability
With room to move, you can reposition pouches through the day. Too small and you can't centre them on your hips where they belong.
