Perfect this, perfect that... We are always looking for that perfect solution, whether that's toolbelt or tires for your truck. But what does it mean to be perfect, especially when we are talking about a framer's tool belt?
The first few aspects that come to my mind when thinking about framing - big hammer, big tape, chalk line, 7" speed square, and loads of loose nails, strips, maybe structural screws, you name it. It's all about big tools for big jobs. That means loads of space, big pouches, and a balanced layout for speed of use.
That brings us to two of the classic options - New School and Old School.

New School or, in other words, Park Ranger, I would consider this a modern framer's toolbelt. It's big, it has loads of room and more organization options than IKEA. Like most current tool pouches, it comes with two-level construction. At the top, you have your tape/chalk line/spare bits, it's close to you and super easy to reach. Down below, you have everything else from speed square to drill bits, but everything is so well balanced that you won't really need to think while working. Everything is sorted by dominant and non-dominant hand use - pencils on the right, drill bits on the left. Tool size is a big factor too, we moved all the small slots up front where visibility is great. Moving towards the rear, everything is designed for longer, bigger tools, some muscle memory and you won't even need to look. If organization and ease of use are your thing, PARK RANGER might be the ultimate option.
Old School, your dad gave you his leather toolbelt, it has lasted for over 30 years and you can't work if the speed square is not in between the bags. But your back and hips are killing you, getting a lighter setup that feels familiar is a priority. Well, that's why we did WARDEN. Blast from the past with a modern twist. Follows a similar layout to PARK RANGER, has a dedicated place for everything from drill bits to torpedo levels. It is quite a bit shorter, still plenty of space and most importantly, the speed square is unobstructed and in between the bags.

What if you are a little more cautious with the size of your bags, want something just as capable, but in a smaller package. SLUG is literally built around a 7" speed square, made to be as small as possible, while offering flawless access. Its smaller size limits what can be built on the outside of bags, on the other hand, that creates billions of options for what can be built. Smaller in size, efficient and tailored to your exact needs, sounds nice, doesn't it?

What if you don't want to carry tools for the whole crew, maybe you want just the essentials. SCOUT is literally that, can be described as pancake thin, still fits framing hammer, tape measure, pencils, knife, and some vertical tool like a torpedo level. Pair it with anything you want to create a perfect setup for you.

With that many options, it's hard to pinpoint what's perfect. Maybe there is no single perfect option when it comes to framer's toolbelts. All of us are different, our workflow is different, our projects are different, instead of going for the same toolbelt, why don't we figure out what works for each of us.
